Indulge in the classic flavours of this Chinese-inspired Baked Honey Garlic Chicken recipe, a true family favourite that perfectly balances sweet and savoury. What makes it even more appealing is its kid-friendly taste that even the pickiest eaters will adore. By choosing the baking method over pan frying, this recipe becomes a convenient option to prepare - coat the chicken with panko crumbs in advance, allowing for time-saving meal prep the night before. The versatility of this dish allows you to keep it simple or add your favourite stir-fry vegetables for an extra burst of goodness.

Our Baked Honey Garlic Chicken recipe gets a big thumbs up for its unbeatable combination of convenience, healthiness as a takeaway alternative, and money-saving qualities. Say goodbye to the hassle of takeaway and hello to a dish that can be easily prepared at home.

In this recipe, we opt for skinless chicken breast as our choice of meat, but don't fret - chicken thigh works just as good. Or any chicken cut of your choice!

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 500g skinless chicken breasts (cut into 3cm chunks)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup Panko
  • 1/3 cup honey (or more, to taste)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

How to cook our Baked Honey Garlic Chicken recipe, method:

  1. Pick up a fresh and juicy chicken from Pendle Hill Meat Market — Come on down and get your hands on our fresh Australian chicken breast, or get it delivered for added convenience.
  2. Get the oven ready - Preheat your oven to 200C
  3. Season your chicken - Start by generously seasoning your fresh chicken breast with salt and pepper to suit your taste. Then, take each piece and dip them into the beaten eggs, using the handy tip of designating one hand for wet dipping and the other for dry dipping. Using your dry hand coat each piece of chicken breast with the Panko crumb.
  4. Cooking time - Bake the crumbed chicken breast in the oven until golden and crips. This should take approximately 20 minutes.
  5. Make it saucy - Heat up a pan over medium-high heat and add the garlic, honey, soy sauce, and if you're up for some spicy excitement, a dash of Sriracha. In a separate bowl, whisk together ⅓ cup of water and cornstarch until smooth, then pour into the pan, stirring it into the sauce until it thickens to perfection.
  6. Combine and serve - Add the golden and crispy chicken to the sauce mixture and combine by gently tossing. Serve with boiled rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
